NEW ORLEANS, LA (March 23, 2012) - The Milwaukee Mustangs (1-1) controlled the tempo and rode outstanding individual performances on Friday evening to avoid the curse of the New Orleans Voodoo (0-2) with a 65-42 victory in the Graveyard.
The Mustangs were led by Marcus Everett, who turned in an excellent performance on both sides of the ball, with rushing and receiving touchdowns on offense and an interception return for a touchdown on defense. Wide receiver Jonathan Wilson also added six catches for 118 yards
and two touchdowns for Milwaukee.

The Voodoo got the ball rolling first when quarterback Kurt Rocco found Josh Bush for a 14-yard
touchdown pass to take an early 6-0 lead. It only took two plays for Milwaukee to answer back with a score of their own. Gino Guidugli took the snap and quickly zipped a pass
to Everett who turned up the field for a 38-yard touchdown. However, New Orleans would close out the first quarter on top after Rocco connected with L.J. Castile on a 20-yard touchdown pass on fourth down.

Milwaukee's offense continued to be an unstoppable force in the second quarter, as Guidugli found Jared Jenkins for an 11-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-13 lead. Aided by Ryan McFoy's forced fumble, the Mustangs would extend their lead to eight when Everett took a pitch and rushed 19 yards untouched for the score. Though Bush would add his second touchdown catch for the Voodoo, the Mustangs would take a 21-20 advantage into the half.

Milwaukee opened up the second half with ease, marching down the field and scoring on a one-yard touchdown run by Justin Lawrence to add to its lead. New Orleans would not go away easily and Bush found the end zone for the third time when he rushed for the score from two yards out. A snap into the turf on the extra point attempt was scooped up by Voodoo holder Greg Ellingson, who dashed into the end zone for the two-point conversion and suddenly the score was tied at 28-28. However, the Mustangs would regain the lead with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Wilson in the closing minutes of the third quarter.

After forcing a turnover on downs, Milwaukee scored again when Guidugli completed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jenkins on a fade route in the corner of the end zone for a 42-28 advantage. Rocco answered right back with a touchdown pass of his own to Ellingson to cut the deficit to seven. Guidugli then found Wilson on a 29-yard touchdown pass to take a 49-35 lead before Rocco and Ellingson hooked up again on a 29-yard touchdown pass to make it a one-score contest with 5:27 remaining.

But Milwaukee would not be denied their first win of the season, as the Mustangs' offense drove down the field, chewing up more than four minutes of game clock and finishing the drive with a Ryan Gates 20-yard field goal to take a 52-42 lead. The Mustangs' defense would finish the game in dominating fashion, as both McFoy and Everett returned interceptions for touchdowns to bring Milwaukee out of the Graveyard with a 65-42 victory
