This robot barber is shaving a brave volunteer's head to raise money for charity. The robot is Intelligent Automation's Multi-Arm Unmanned Ground Vehicle (MA-UGV). It's three arms provide for a range of motions and although it didn't get the closest shave, it also didn't harm the volunteer. The motion of the arms was controlled by a human through a computer program.
A series of cameras helped translate when and where to shaver, while the main arm used an electric shaver to take the hair off. The robot was originally designed for tasks such as backpack inspection, tool handling, shovel manipulation, door breaching, knot tying, and tackling IEDs.
