Sex scandal unfolds in New York City, $2M MEDIA BLACKOUT ON ISSUE AND CASE!
The investigation into Gristina's sex ring has lasted over five years and although she's been held for a week, the case didn't reach national attention until a press conference from her lawyer, Peter Gleason, on March 6 and an appearance on "Good Day, New York."
Gleason's actions were in response to hearings from an unnamed
Morgan Stanley executive about his meetings with Gristina. Charles Linehan, prosecutor in Manhattan's District Attorney office, said that the nature of their meetings was to fund an "illicit business venture" where Gristina would set up "male clients with female prostitutes."
But, according to Gleason, Gristina "has legitimate business interests," and that she was "endeavoring into a website that would have rivaled match.com."
The $2 million bond was instated due to evidence suggesting that Gristina had stores of cash set up to flee with in case of emergencies. After Gristina's attorneys asked for a lower bond, Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, said "the risk of flight seemed significant" enough to maintain the seven-figure bail to defend against her skipping town.
When targeting criminals with a potential to flee there are a number of tactics for law enforcement and private investigators to use to ensure capture, one of which would be to rely on a people search database to utilize skip tracing tools and conduct a person search. Using a people search database can even allow law enforcement agencies and private investigators to search people by phone numbers and find death records.
